Getting your wallet

This guide shows you how to create your first wallet on the main blockchains.

If you were told to install Trust Wallet, or already have it, go straight to How do I set up Trust Wallet?.

Before you start

Golden rules

1. Never share your seed phrase with anyone
2. Write down your seed phrase on paper, never digitally
3. Verify you're on the official site before downloading

Wallet for Ethereum and EVM networks

MetaMask is the most widely used wallet for Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon, Base, and other compatible networks.

Step 1: Download MetaMask

1. Go to metamask.io
2. Click "Download"
3. Select your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Edge)
4. Install the extension from the official store

Verify the URL

Only download from metamask.io. Never search for "MetaMask" on Google and click an ad.

Step 2: Create a new wallet

1. Open the MetaMask extension
2. Select "Create a new wallet"
3. Create a strong password (to unlock it on this device)
4. MetaMask will show you your 12-word seed phrase

Step 3: Save your seed phrase

CRITICAL MOMENT

This is the one part of the whole process that can't be undone afterward:

1. Grab paper and a pen
2. Write down the 12 words in order
3. Verify you wrote them correctly
4. Store the paper somewhere safe
5. Make a second copy, in a different place

And what you should not do, no matter how convenient it seems:

• ❌ Take a photo of it
• ❌ Save it in a file, notes app, or password manager
• ❌ Send it to yourself by email or WhatsApp

Step 4: Verify

MetaMask will ask you to confirm a few words from your seed phrase. This verifies you saved it correctly.

Step 5: Your wallet is ready

Now you have an Ethereum address (starts with 0x). This same address works on every EVM network.

To add other networks:

1. Click the network selector (top)
2. "Add network"
3. Select Arbitrum, Polygon, Base, etc.

Wallet for Solana

Phantom is the most popular wallet for Solana.

Step 1: Download Phantom

1. Go to phantom.app
2. Click "Download"
3. Select your browser or mobile device
4. Install the extension/app

Step 2: Create a new wallet

1. Open Phantom
2. Select "Create a new wallet"
3. Create a password
4. Phantom will show you your 12-word seed phrase

Step 3: Save your seed phrase

Same process as with MetaMask:

• Write it on paper
• Store it somewhere safe
• Never digitally

Step 4: Your wallet is ready

Your Solana address is an alphanumeric string (32-44 characters).

Phantom also supports Ethereum and Bitcoin if you want a multi-chain wallet.

Wallet for Bitcoin

For Bitcoin, we recommend BlueWallet (mobile) or Sparrow (desktop) for users who only want BTC.

Option A: BlueWallet (mobile)

1. Download BlueWallet from the App Store or Play Store
2. Open the app
3. Tap "Add Now" → "Create"
4. Select "Bitcoin"
5. Save your 12-word seed phrase
6. Your wallet is ready

Option B: Sparrow (desktop)

1. Go to sparrowwallet.com
2. Download it for your operating system
3. File → New Wallet
4. Select "New or Imported Software Wallet"
5. Generate 12 or 24 words
6. Save your seed phrase
7. Set a password

Sparrow for advanced users

Sparrow has many advanced features like coin control, connecting to your own node, and hardware wallet support.

Wallet for Hyperliquid

Hyperliquid is an L1 blockchain focused on trading. It uses EVM-compatible addresses.

Step 1: Use your existing EVM wallet

If you already have MetaMask or Rabby, you can use it directly:

1. Go to app.hyperliquid.xyz
2. Click "Connect"
3. Select your wallet (MetaMask, Rabby, etc.)
4. Approve the connection

Step 2: Deposit into Hyperliquid

To use Hyperliquid you need to deposit USDC from Arbitrum:

1. Have USDC on Arbitrum (EVM network)
2. In Hyperliquid, go to "Portfolio" → "Deposit"
3. Follow the instructions to bridge USDC

Technical note

Hyperliquid uses a bridge from Arbitrum. Your Hyperliquid address is the same as your EVM address.

Verify your address

After creating your wallet, verify that it works:

On Ethereum/EVMs

1. Copy your address
2. Go to etherscan.io (or your network's explorer)
3. Paste the address
4. You should see a page (empty if it's new)

On Solana

1. Copy your address
2. Go to solscan.io
3. Paste the address
4. Verify it exists

On Bitcoin

1. Copy your address
2. Go to mempool.space
3. Paste the address
4. Verify it exists
